The tack locker

Fittings only. Nothing in this locker turns a mirror, moves the lamp or changes a payout. Tacks come from logged watches, the sunnyside call, or an optional ad.

Harbour signals

01The lamp sits on the edge of the plot and fires one straight bearing. It does not move and it does not turn.
02A brass mirror takes a quarter turn on a tap: / becomes \ and back again. Every turn counts as one flip.
03Light runs cell to cell. It reflects off a mirror, passes clean through a watch post and through bare ground.
04A crate or a mast foot stops the light dead. Nothing else turns it.
05Set every watch post alight and the station logs the watch. Posts on a leg of the beam read it as the light passes.
06Four mirrors can ring the light into a loop. Then it runs until the watch cap is spent and stops there - break one corner of the ring and the bearing is free again.
07Par is the fewest flips that reads every post, taken by trying all mirror settings. Three lights at par, two within two flips more, one within four.
08Out of allowance the watch is not logged; starting it over is free and costs no tacks.
09A practice flag hangs on the same rope but pays nothing - no lights, no tacks, and two extra flips of slack.
